trouble finding a answer to a film question?

hi im asking people if they know the title of a film similar to the B.I.G with tom hanks, im having a debate that big has a alternate ending, i once watched a film in which a small boy finds a machine that is used to make tomatoes and other fruit grow to a huge size, kinda like honey i shrunk the kids, anyway the boy uses this machine to become older, once older he meets a lady friend/girlfriend/ whatever they where, once he turns back younger she turns back up younger in his class room, please can someone give me a name to the film, im actually not bothered ig big has another ending now, its just not knowing the title of this one is driving me crazy

Yes, you’re right, there is a movie that has this ending.. But it’s not an alternate version of Big, it’s actually the italian movie that inspired it.

It’s called “Da grande” and was filmed in 1987.
This boy, Marco, who has a crush for his teacher, can’t take anymore of his family problems and wishes to be an adult; unexpectedly some mysterious magic grants his wish (no machine involved, but there is a little plant in a vase that grows with him when they both are showered by the “magic blue light”- that’s the tomato thing you remember)

Unable to explain his parents what happened, he runs away from home and ends up living in his teacher’s house as a house-mate (never telling her who he really is- she believes he’s a whacky but kind-hearted homeless). He is great with children, so she provides him baby sitting jobs.

Meanwhile the teacher falls in love wih him and his family keeps searching him with the help of the police, so he contacts them and says he has been kidnapped. He even asks them a ransom.
But when he goes to the meeting place he has to run away; the cops follow him and when his car goes off the road (because he can’t drive) they find him lying there, back to his original 9-year-old look.

When he’s back to school he realizes his teacher is sad about the disappearance of the man she loved.
Marco writes and gives her a composition where he tells his story and asks her if she loves him enough to stay with him.

Final shot: Marco is in the school hall, walking away. The blue light shines inside his class and a little girl who wears his teacher’s dress and make up runs out and says “Marco, wait for me!”. They walk out of the school hand in hand.
