The genre of “chick flicks” includes some of the best romantic movies and hilarious comedies of all time. While they are categorized as movies that girls like, some of them even have some secret male fans. Here are some favorite’s to get you inspired for a future chick flick marathon:

Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)- This is the movie that made Audrey Hepburn one of the most beloved actresses of all time, and it is certainly a classic chick flick. As the young New York socialite Holly Golightly, she became the girl that everyone wanted to be, and the picture of class and sophistication. It is still a charming movie that every girl loves.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)- You can’t have a list of great chick flicks without including this classic. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal star as two friends who ultimately realize they are perfect for each other. It takes several failed relationships for both, and a lot of denial, but in the end, they eventually find true love. It is a hilarious film that speaks to the realities of love and relationships in a modern world.

Pretty Woman (1990)- This is truly one of the greatest romantic films of all time. In this classic, Julia Roberts stars as a prostitute swept off her feet by a successful businessman played by Richard Gere. It is a modern day Cinderella story that makes girls everywhere believe they’ll finally meet Prince charming. No matter how many times you watch this one, it never gets old.

A League of their Own (1992)- This is a great chick flick because it is one of the only sports films that has an almost all female cast. Based on the true story of the World War II-era female baseball league, this classic packs a whole lot of girl power. Tom Hanks stars along with Geena Davis, and the have fantastic chemistry that makes the film so entertaining.

The First Wives Club (1996)- This hilarious comedy starring Bette Midler, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn is about heartbreak, revenge and ultimately, friendship. The three actresses star as scorned ex wives who ban together to get back at their delinquent ex husbands. It is the perfect movie to watch with your girlfriends, especially after a bad break up.

The Notebook (2004)- This movie has all the components of a great romance. Based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, it follows the story of two young lovers through their ups and downs, and all that life has to throw at them. Nothing gets you weepy quite like seeing a love that lasts the test of a time, and this one certainly gets it right.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)- Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway star in this clever comedy about an aspiring writer who goes to work for the nation’s biggest fashion magazine. Meryl Streep stars as the magazine’s icy editor-in-chief, and her spot on portrayal in what makes the film so fantastic. What makes it a great chick flick? To put it simply, the clothes will leave you drooling.
