egypt passport problem!?

So I’m due to go to Hurghada next week but my passport expires on July 16 2009. I’m worried that I’ll get turned away at the airport (either London or Egypt), or stuck like Tom Hanks in the Terminal… how embarrassing would that be! :O
I rang the Egyptian embassy & they said that Hurghada officials are usually quite flexible if your passport has anything from 4-6 months left, they said it depends but I’m still not confident lol
Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this? Or know anything more? A passport renewal would cost me over 100 UK pound!

Most countries usually say they want 6 months left on the passport. Some of the more reasonable countries, of which I believe Egypt is, will let you through if you have a few months left.

If you are worried, apply for a new passport. You can apply up to 9 months before your current passport expires and any unused time will be added to your new passport.
