What are some movies that lots of people love, but just don’t do anything for you?

What are some movies that are adored and praised by the masses that you just don’t get anything out of and wonder what were they thinking?

Forest Gump is one of those movies for me. I feel the same way about 12 Monkeys, Oceans 11, 12 and 13 and just about any more with Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts. What do the masses see in Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts? What movies do you not get into that everybody else does?

Titanic~The other movies about this are better. Also, it rips off the storyline of a “Time Tunnel” episode about the Titanic; Tony is mistaken for a guy from steerage, has a romance with an upper-class girl, and is imprisoned belowdecks when the ship starts to sink. The sole difference is that he doesn’t die, just ends up leaping to another time with Doug.

Gladiator~I suggest people watch “Spartacus” instead. This film is a fiasco, and the CGI is muddy and extremely poor. Watch “Quo Vadis” and “Fall of the Roman Empire” to see an awe-inspiring Rome.

Forrest Gump~It’s STUPID! First, someone narrates, then characters say exactly the same thing. I thought it was a joke then realized that they were serious!

Independence Day~First of all, the “creators” ripped off “V” and “Earth vs. the Flying Saucers” without crediting either one of those movies! The latter destroyed Washington, D.C., first! “V” had vast ships above major cities before “ID”! There were better pyrotechnics in “Daylight”, which was released close to that time. Will Smith’s antics make it unendurable. Bill Pullman as the president, Judd Nelson in a totally embarrassing performance, and Randy Quaid chewing the scenery more than usual~~All of these make for an unpleasant experience. How is this one of the moneymakers of all time?! The same can be said of “Titanic”, which is undeserving.

Pretty Woman~Though I do like Richard Gere, it’s stupid to believe this wealthy, handsome man is going to keep a prostitute in his life. In the original story, they part ways, and she goes back to the streets, which is far more believable.

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are on MY miss list, too! I can barely stand to watch their films unless there are other actors and actresses I like. Tom Hanks was OK up to “Big”, then got to big an ego after that~big enough that it shows on film. Even then, I don’t understand the admiration. Other actors and actresses I’ll gladly pass up are:
Kevin Costner~I like him in “Silverado”. That’s it.
Halle Berry~She lost me as a fan awhile back.
