Have any celebrities or noted rich people been known to drive a beater car or something really cheap?

This would have to be at the height of their career or wealth. Environmental cars don’t count, so don’t tell me about Leo DeCaprio or Tom Hanks and the Prius or EV1.

I just want to know, because I feel like if I were famous I would want to show up to events in a beat up Cadillac with duct tape. Hey, it’s comfortable, lots of room in the trunk and really makes more of a statement!
Wow, great answers everyone, we should be highlighted on the front page. In the case of Rob Pattinson, he has since bought a Porsche like everyone else, but his attachment to that BMW is really interesting.

I thought of two of my own. I think (not sure) Trey Anastasio drives a cheap truck, and how could I forget Conan O’brian showing up to the Louis Vuitton Classic auto show with his prized Ford Taurus. He calls the automatic T-shifter the “Cone Bone”

Yes, Kurt Cobain drove an old Volvo even at the height of his career.

And the skinny kid from “Road Trip” and “The New Guy” bought a Kia for $3,000 on eBay, because he thought his fame and money wouldn’t last because of his looks. Poor guy.
