Why do stars never like their own movies?

I was watching Oprah the other day and they had Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks as guests and when Oprah asked them what their favorite movie of their own was, they said, “I don’t have a favorite” and then I thought, “That’s all I ever hear stars say is ‘I don’t have a favorite’, hmmm…” Why is that?

I think they do it to try not to make anyone mad: former coworkers, former directors, etc. It’s more politically correct to say that you don’t have a favorite so that everyone else won’t feel gypped when their film isn’t your favorite.
