Has anyone seen the movie ‘philadelphia’ with denzel washington and tom hanks?
If anyone saw the movie…can u please give a small summary of whats it about…and some of ur reactions to it. I have to write a long paper and i just need some ideas. thanks soo much!
It’s about a homosexual guy (Tom Hanks) who is diagnosed HIV-positive. Just as soon as the signs of the disease begin to show, his boss fires him because he’s prejudiced against homosexuals/HIV-positive people. But of course, his boss claims that he only fired him because he didn’t do his job just as good as he did in the past. Tom Hanks decides to take the entire committee that fired him to court. So he hires a lawyer (Denzel Washington) who despite his initial denial to represent him, finally agrees. After several visits to each others house, not only they begin to develop a friendship, but they actually begin winning the court case.
“Philadelphia” is one of my most favorite gay-themed films. It’s very human, honest and brave. Great performance by both Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. You should watch it. I learned a couple of things from it. Maybe the ending isn’t all that happy, but it’s a film that leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction.
