Is it possible to be stranded on a pacific island for years?

Like on the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks. I know there’s a few islands in the pacifyic that are not populated, but I find it hard to believe nobody would visit for years. And that seemed to be a pretty large island he was on.

It’s happened many times, both deliberately and by accident. Not only tropical islands either. Happens less today, but there are more people on the water and in the air to see. There are still wild places in the world and in recent memory there were Japanese soldiers hiding in the jungle not aware WW2 had finished decades before.
