hello,

does anyone know where i can find the section where joe and the store clerk have the “happy thanksgiving” conversation? it is my favorite part of the film and i really want that clip! i’d even “settle” for just an audio.

i’ve tried youtube and no luck so far. help would be greatly appreciated.

Rose, Zabar’s cashier, totals up Kathleen’s purchases and Kathleen hands over her credit card.
CASHIER: This is a Cash Only line.
KATHLEEN: What?
CASHIER: Cash Only.
KATHLEEN: Omigod, omigod, oh, I just have a credit card. If…I’m sorry. Is that okay?
PERSON BEHIND HER IN LINE: No, it’s not okay, there’s a sign (as he points up to the sign above).
KATHLEEN: I’m sorry, I’m very sorry. I..I..I never do this but I’m asking you to make an exception in just…just this one case.
PERSON IN LINE: You have no cash? She has no cash (to the person behind him).
No, “she has no cash” is repeated all the way down the line.
ANOTHER PERSON: Get in another line, lady.
KATHLEEN: I have a dollar, all I have is a dollar, ONE dollar. Is there anything that you can do?
Joe Fox turns to see what’s going on.
JOE: Oh, hello.
KATHLEEN: Hello.
JOE: Hi, do you need some money?
KATHLEEN: No, I don’t need any money. Thank you
very much.
CASHIER: Get on another line.
JOE: Hi (reading off her name-tag, big smile) Rose. That is a great name. Rose, this is Kathleen, I’m Joe…
HENRY: And I’m Henry.
JOE: Henry, how are you? Happy holidays. This is a credit card machine. Happy Thanksgiving.
Rose just stares at him.
JOE (cont’d): It’s your turn to say happy Thanksgiving back.
ROSE: Happy Thanksgiving back.
Joe looks at her and smiles.
JOE: Knock, knock.
ROSE: Who’s there?
JOE: Orange.
ROSE: Orange who?
JOE: Orange you going to give us a break by zipping this credit card through the credit card machine? Come on, you can do it. Zip, zip.
The cashier, completely charmed, takes Kathleen’s credit card.
Kathleen is appalled.
Everyone on the line sighs irritably and audibly.
JOE: There you go. Rose, ah, that is a great name. (Turning to Kathleen) So, you’re fine?
KATHLEEN: Fine.
JOE: Happy Thanksgiving. Henry, Happy Thanksgiving.
As Kathleen signs the charge slip:
KATHLEEN: I’m so sorry, really. I apologize. I apologize from the bottom of my heart–as the cashier exasperatedly starts to put her groceries into a bag.
HENRY: So sign already! I’d like to get home in time to watch the Thanksgiving Parade.
